Secure buying and selling
Protect yourself and your money! Always observe the following rules when buying or selling a vehicle.
- Make sure that the seller really exists.
- Get name, address, phone number. Call at different times of the day to find out who answers and how they answer.
- Never send a copy of your identity card to someone you only know by e-mail or telephone.
- A request for advance payment usually constitutes an attempt to defraud.
- This applies both to cash transfers (e.g. via Western Union, MoneyGram, Escrow) and to bank transfers. Unfortunately, there is always the possibility that your money will be withdrawn using forged documents - and your loss will not be reimbursed!
- Is the offer "too good to be true"? Then it is.
- Be careful with transactions that cross national borders.
